GMG Proofing Paper
GMG may not be a name familiar to the typical personal inkjet printer owner, but within the printing industry it is well known and respected. This German company has 25 years of experience in the graphic arts industry initially in the production of printing software but now additionally boasts a wide array of media for the printing industry.
GMG offers six different types of proofing paper each with its specific uses. All of the ProofPaper media are suitable for offset, gravure, packaging, photographic, and artwork reproduction printing.
The GMG ProofPaper Semimatte 250gsm is GMG's premium proof paper for its reliable quality performance. It has the GMG backlabel, high ink limit, no optical brighteners, dries quickly with no matting or blotchy build ups.
Next in line is the GMG ProofPaper Gloss 250gsm which is intended as a substitute for the chromalin proofing procedure and high quality photo reproduction. Chromalin is the process when each of the four CMYK colors are printed on separate transparent sheets and combined together to create the final image. Compared to other high gloss papers on the market the GMG ProofPaper Gloss achieves its goal because of the consistent paper tint and the high amount of ink that can be applied to the paper and maintain its glossy appearance.
GMG ProofMedia ClearFilm 139 and GMG ProofMedia ProofFilm Opaque 100 are new to the GMG family of proof media. They are transparent and opaque films ideal for the flexographic, packaging, print market. It is noteworthy that they have both high density and a short drying time even with high levels of ink application. Clearfilm and ProofFilm can be both cold and hot laminated.
GMG ProofPaper Newsprint 57 has a neutral surface which means that it has the same look and feel as newsprint. GMG Newsprint ProofPaper 57 should only be used with matte black inks. GMG ProofPaper Newsprint 80 is slightly heavier than its 57gsm counterpart lending itself to photo black inks in addition to the matte black.
Completing the range are GMG ProofPaper Matte 140 and GMG ProofPaper Satin Low Gloss 200. Most of the GMG proof media are available in 13", 17", 24", 36", 42" and 44" rolls, in lengths ranging from 98' to 164', and also 13" x 19", and 16.5" x 23.4" sheet reams (A2 and A3+). GMG Proofing Paper meets several industry standards including SWOP, GRACol, and Fogra. GMG products are available from regionally placed distribution centers.
